Hinduism for Confused Hindus – To Resist & Escape Conversion
1. Its original name is ” Sanatana Dharma” (Eternal Principle).
2. It is the only religion of “Dharma” and not a religion of Faith. I believe = I do not know…!!! Better to know than to blindly & ignorantly Believe…!!!
3. “Laws of Nature” are inescapable irrespective of faith.
4. It does not promise “Liberation” by denying “Freedom of Thought & Action” + Imposing Regimentation.
5. The only religion where atheists have a place – and practice their own personal realities.
6. Only religion where there is real freedom of thought & action and never any imposed regimentation on the way of living.
7. Only religion where no one prophet or one holy book rules all aspects & parts of life.
8. Many Rishis + 4 Vedas + Many Upanishads + 18 Puranas (Mythologies) + 2 Itihasas (Histories)…choose what you like to read or follow…!!!
9. Only religion that propounds that “There is Only God” and never says that “There is only One God – and that is Only Our God“.
10. Only Religion that gives the perfect definition of GOD = सर्व कारण कारका = Sarva Karana Karaka = The Original Cause of All Causes.
Spiritualism is fully advanced “Science & Technology”
We have seen how technology has been transforming every sphere in our lives in the last 100 years! As we advance … further advancement is progressively getting accelerated … taking lesser time for quantum jumps! Where will this end finally? We will end in “Spirituality”. How?
Computer sizes have been shrinking. What would have occupied a building will now fit into our palm! As miniaturization continues, things are becoming smaller and smaller – but with their abilities growing bigger and bigger! We are now talking of Nano-technology (molecular structural manipulation towards specific functionality). It will then move towards atoms and then sub-atomic particles and finally through allotropic forms of pure energy to – “Pure Consciousness”. Read the rest of this entry
God – Prayer – Worship
The problem that haunted the humans from time immemorial is – To be or not to be + To do or not to do + To have or not to have! One has to be to do, one has to do to have and one has to have to be again! Thus this cycle (Being-Doing-Having) is an inseparable triangle and a spiral – moving upwards or downwards depending on choices one makes from time to time.
The most critical components in “Having” are … belief and faith. Let us look at the “inherent” meaning of these two words. Belief = I do not know! One does not have to believe that one is breathing and is alive … one simply knows it. When you do not know, you are forced to believe either by yourself or by others prompting. Faith = Strong belief, based on some direct perception or experience – but still nowhere as stable as “knowing”.
Prayer = Beseeching for some consideration and favor deservingly or otherwise.
Worship = Admiration born out of appreciation of the “quality & quantity”.
If you agree with my above definitions, you will appreciate the meaninglessness of most of our actions based on beliefs and faith – as belief & faith falter very often in the absence of knowing.
GOD = Original and Supreme Cause … of all causes, that manifest as effects in the universes. Thus Veda has defined God as “Sarva kaarana kaaraka”. Read the rest of this entry
God – Worship – Love – Life
These 4 words represented “enigmatic concepts” all along the evolution of modern Humans. These 4 words are often used in general conversations, hardly clearly understood, but eloquently lectured on by the so called elite and the ignorant alike, in equal measure – which hardly makes any sense to a rationalist – when scientifically inspected or examined. The best way to attempt clear understanding of a concept is to dig into its fundamental definition and how it is sourced or engendered. Mathematical approach is the simplest – as it is the language of Science. Look at the following summation of components …
GOD = Generator + Operator + Destroyer
OR alternately with equivalents such as …
GOD = Creator + Sustainer + Transformer
The above describes summarily … with great all-encompassing accuracy! Read the rest of this entry
Prasthānatraya of Vedānta
The Upaniṣads, the Bhagavadgītā, and the Brahmasūtra are known as the prasthāna–traya – the triple foundation/cannon of Vedānta. Prasthāna means ‘foundation’ and thus, these three constitute the three foundations of – Śruti – revelation, Smṛti – remembrance, and Nyāya – reason. They are respectively known as, the Upaniṣads or Śruti-prasthāna, the Bhagavadgītā or Smṛti-prasthāna, and the Brahmasūtra or Nyāya-prasthāna.
Vedas are referred to as Śruti, and since the Upaniṣads form part of the Vedas, their name as Śruti–prasthāna is justified. The Bhagavadgītā stands next to the Upaniṣads with reference to authoritativeness, and is considered almost an equal. Bhagavadgītā or ‘Song of the Lord’ – contains the message of Lord Kṛṣṇa to the humanity. It forms part of the epic, the Mahābhārata, which is a Smṛti or remembered text. Thus, Bhagavadgītā is known as the Smṛti–prasthāna. The Brahmasūtra represents the standpoint of reason because; it sets forth the Vedāntic teachings in a logical order. It is also calledUttara-Mīmāṃsā-Sūtra since it is an enquiry into the final sections of the Vedas; Vedānta-Sūtra since it is the aphoristic text of Vedānta; Śārīraka-Sūtra since it is concerned with the nature and destiny of the embodied jīva; and Bhikṣu-Sūtra since those who are most competent to study this are the Sannyāsīs, or renunciates who are bhikṣus.
Thus, we see that the basic sourcebook of Vedānta, and its basic doctrine is based upon Śruti, and supported by Smṛti and reasoning (Nyāya). In light of this, the central teaching of all three sourcebooks will be posited to be one and the same, i.e. Brahman. Read the rest of this entry
